Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and the Wappingers Central School District are joining forces to host a Skilled Trades Fair event at Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 6:30 PM. The event aims to introduce local students and adults to various career opportunities in the skilled trades industry.

"I did not take the traditional career path, which is why I think it is so important to show students that there truly is no 'one size fits all approach' when it comes to planning your future," expressed Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino. She highlighted the importance of showcasing the diverse and lucrative opportunities available in the skilled trades sector to the community.

Dr. Dwight Bonk, Superintendent of the Wappingers Central School District, praised County Executive Serino for her dedication to promoting skilled trades fairs and career and technical education. He emphasized the increasing demand for skilled workers in the region and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between businesses, education institutions, and government to equip students with the necessary skills for these careers.

The Skilled Trades Fair will feature over 60 businesses and organizations from industries such as electrical, construction, welding, and plumbing. Additionally, representatives from the Dutchess County Department of Public Works and the Wappingers Central School District's Facilities Department will be present to showcase career opportunities in government and educational facility management.

Businesses interested in participating in the event can register online or contact the Dutchess County Executive's Office for further details. For inquiries about attending or participating in the Skilled Trades Fair, individuals can reach out to County Executive Serino's office for assistance.
